Pfizer innovative medicine focus on patient

Summary

Czech Republic is well known for its remarkably high vaccination coverage of the pediatric population and consequently for one of the lowest child mortalities in the world. Selected vaccines are required obligatory in children, however, those recommended for adult population are on the opposite side of the scale. Protection against pneumococal diseases, influenza, highly endemic tick-borne encephalitis etc. is by far not sufficient and the level of knowledge and active approach ought to be raised especially in the field of primary care in order to achieve better vaccination coverage leading to significant reduction of morbidity and mortality.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with an increased risk of stroke compared with the general population. AF-related stroke confers a higher mortality and morbidity risk, and thus early detection and assessment for the initiation of effective stroke prevention with oral anticoagulation (OAC) is crucial. Prof. Kautzner will provide an overview of recent advances in the understanding and management of AF with a focus on stroke prevention with Apixaban.

The way we use treat dyslipidemia in daily practice we are supposed to treat the nicotine addiction in our patients as well. The success rate with the available medication dramatically increases. What else does varenicline and other drugs bring? What side effect you may see, and what side effects are simply unlikely to happen when quitting? The secret hints how to be effective with the available medication in short time will be presented by Ondrej Sochor,MD,PhD, Tobacco Treatment Specialist from Brno, Czech Republic.
